Renunciation of Filipino citizenship may be undertaken by filing an application of declaration of intention to renounce Philippine citizenship. Philippine law does not require any citizen to renounce his/her citizenship upon swearing allegiance to another country. Renunciation of Philippine citizenship is a choice left to you. The requirements for renunciation are indicated below. Requirements on the First Visit a. Duly authenticated (Taiwan District Court and MOFA) Certificate of Naturalization for R.O.C. citizenship - 3 copies, 1 with original photo and 2 photocopies, all originally authenticated. b. Duly authenticated (Taiwan District Court and MOFA) Household Registration Certificate – 3 copies, 1 original and 2 copies, all originally authenticated. c. Duly accomplished Declaration of Intention to Renounce Philippine Citizenship (6 copies with signature of applicant all original) d. Original passport of the applicant – for verification purposes Procedure on the First Visit a. Authorized officer to verify all documents and require applicant to sign all six copies of the Declaration of Intention to Renounce Philippine Citizenship . b. Authorized officer to attach one copy of the Certificate of Naturalization to the Declaration of Intention c. Return the 2 copies (original and copy) of Certificate of Naturalization, all copies of Household Registration and original passport of applicant d. Schedule next and final visit for renunciation of citizenship and provide list of documents required for the same. The next visit is scheduled at least a month from date of first visit and is known as the cooling off period in which the applicant is advised to fully analyze his/her decision to renounce the Philippine citizenship. e. Payment of notarization fee (NT$800.00) for the Declaration of Intention to Renounce Philippine Citizenship Requirements for the Second and Final Visit a. Duly authenticated (Taiwan District Court and MOFA) Certificate of Naturalization for R.O.C. citizenship – 2 copies, 1 with original photo and 1 copy, all originally authenticated b. Duly authenticated (Taiwan District Court and MOFA) the Household Registration Certificate – 3 copies, 1 original and 2 copies, all originally authenticated c. Original passport of the applicant – verification purposes d. Three (3) photocopies each of the following 1. Applicant’s Alien Residence Certificate (front and back) 2. Spouse or sponsoring person’s Taiwan Identification Card (front and back) 3. Spouse or sponsoring person’s R.O.C. Passport – data page and all pages with Immigration stamps 4. Name and address of the Attorney-in-Fact of applicant in the Philippines to process his/her documents Procedure and Fees for the Second and Final Visit Applicant shall sign the following documents a. Oath of Renunciation - NT$800.00 b. Special Power of Attorney - NT$800.00 c. Authentication of Household Registration - NT$800.00 d. Notation/Validation of 1. Applicant’s ARC - NT$400.00 2. Spouse’s or sponsor’s ID - NT$400.00 3. Spouse of sponsor’s passport - NT$400.00 4. Applicant’s letter to TECO - NT$400.00 5. Verification of DFA Despatch No. -NT$400.00 Authorized officer is required to cut and cancel the passport of the applicant after taking the Oath of Renunciation. Some documents or applications may need to be authenticated or submitted for affirmation (notarized) PRIOR to filing. Authentication and notarization is undertaken by the Consular Service of MECO .
